WestPoint Inaugurates New Fibre-Filling Factory in Bahrain Expansion
Published By Arab Hub Post Staff
In Bahrain, the Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro officially opened WestPoint’s latest expansion, which features a new factory producing fibre fillings for bedding, pillows and other filled products.
Inauguration and Official Remarks
The ceremony was attended by WestPoint chief executive officer Jonathan Storey. Minister Fakhro highlighted that the growth of international industrial investment in the kingdom showcases Bahrain’s competitive strengths and its welcoming business environment.
Strategic Alignment with National Policy
He pointed out that this development corresponds with the goals of the Industrial Sector Strategy (2022–2026), which seeks to boost manufacturing, raise the industrial sector’s share of GDP, improve supply‑chain efficiency and increase exports to both regional and global markets.
The minister added that WestPoint’s expanded investment serves as a clear example of successful industrial ventures in Bahrain, and reiterated the ministry’s pledge to support further growth of such projects to strengthen national product competitiveness, expand local output and create fresh opportunities for accessing GCC markets.
Company Perspective and Expansion Details
Jonathan Storey praised Bahrain’s attractive investment climate, describing the new expansion as a significant step in the company’s growth that builds on the achievements of the initial towel‑production phase.
He explained that the upgraded facility will increase WestPoint’s manufacturing capacity, enabling it to offer a full range of locally made home textiles and to satisfy rising demand in Gulf markets from Bahrain.
The expansion includes the production of bedding fillings, pillows and a variety of filled goods, which will diversify the company’s domestically produced textile line and enhance its ability to supply a comprehensive selection of ‘Made in Bahrain’ home products such as bed linen, towels, pillows and other filled items.
Regional Context and Market Impact
The project follows Bahrain’s hosting of the inaugural ‘Made in GCC 2026 Forum and Exhibition’, an event that underscored prospects for strengthening local manufacturing and meeting growing regional demand.
Through its enlarged plant, WestPoint aims to provide locally sourced alternatives, reinforce supply chains and lessen reliance on imports from outside the region.
