Iraq’s Buraq Al-Qimma Boosts Local SHACMAN Truck Assembly
Published By Arab Hub Post Staff
IraqiNews.com reported that in Iraq, the commercial vehicle company Buraq Al-Qimma is expanding its local assembly operations for SHACMAN trucks, marketing the finished vehicles under the “Made in Iraq” label.
Expansion of SHACMAN Assembly
The firm says it has an industrial site in Iraq where it builds more than ten different SHACMAN truck models, ranging from heavy‑duty trucks and dump trucks to concrete mixers and specialised vehicles used in construction, transport and municipal services.
Facility Composition and Activities
Buraq Al-Qimma describes itself as the exclusive SHACMAN assembly agent in the country, providing vehicle assembly, sales, spare‑parts supply and after‑sales service.
Footage from the plant shows technicians working on cabins and components at assembly stations and inspection areas.
The same compound also hosts the Chinese bus manufacturer Zhongtong, highlighting the company’s involvement in both truck and bus production.
Local Content, Capacity Claims and Sector Context
Although Buraq Al-Qimma brands its output as “Made in Iraq”, the proportion of locally sourced parts has not been disclosed.
The stated annual capacity of 1,500 trucks does not necessarily reflect actual output figures.
The initiative is part of a broader push to develop Iraq’s domestic automotive sector through ties with international manufacturers, aiming to create jobs, offer technical training and stimulate industrial growth.
This expansion follows sustained demand for commercial vehicles in Iraq’s construction, infrastructure and logistics sectors.
