Event Overview
The Katara Library of Arabic Novels in Doha held a book-signing ceremony on Tuesday for the short‑story collection Shortly, After Survival by writer Aisha El Idrissi, published by Katara Publishing House.
The ceremony is part of the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara)’s broader initiative to foster literary creativity, promote new releases and reinforce the library’s function as a cultural meeting point for writers and readers.
Officials’ Remarks
Khalid Al Mohannadi, director of the Katara Library of Arabic Novels, said the library’s signing events aim to support literary activity, raise the visibility of authors and create direct interaction between writers and their audience.
He added that short‑story collections are able to capture the nuances of human experience and reflect a wide spectrum of emotions and personal journeys.
Al Mohannadi noted that the library strives to celebrate diverse narrative styles and to encourage literary voices that bring fresh perspectives and creative works to Qatar’s cultural scene.
About the Collection
El Idrissi’s Shortly, After Survival explores various human and psychological themes through stories that examine inner transformations and the effect of life experiences on individuals’ understanding of themselves and the world around them.
The stories deal with survival, loss, change and self-discovery, looking beyond the events themselves to their psychological and emotional consequences.
The collection also raises questions about how difficult experiences reshape people and what remnants of those experiences remain in memory and emotional life.
