Bahraini MP Receives Standing Ovation After Earning PhD in Sports Marketing

A senior member of Bahrain’s parliament was greeted with a standing ovation in the chamber yesterday after completing a professional doctorate in sports marketing and sponsorship.

Academic Achievement in Parliament

Dr Mohammed Al Olaiwi, who chairs the parliamentary services committee, received congratulations from fellow lawmakers for his accomplishment. He stated that the qualification would enable him to make a greater contribution to the development of Bahrain’s sports sector.

The doctorate was awarded following a programme run by the Nevada Training and Consulting Centre, which serves as the Middle East representative for the University of Nevada, in partnership with the World Leadership Organisation.

Vision for Sports Development

Dr Al Olaiwi said the achievement would motivate him to apply his knowledge and expertise toward attracting investment in sports, building stronger ties between the sports and private sectors, and enhancing sports initiatives and programmes.

He also acknowledged the royal support for Bahraini sports from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, as well as the continued backing of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

According to Dr Al Olaiwi, this support has been essential to Bahrain’s progress and successes in sports and has strengthened the kingdom’s ambitions to achieve further international accomplishments.

Speaker’s Encouragement

The MP also expressed gratitude to Parliament Speaker Ahmed Al Musallam for his congratulations and for encouraging national talent, particularly among members of parliament, to pursue further academic and professional growth.

Dr Al Olaiwi added that such achievements could make a positive contribution to national development across various fields.
