According to the source, the Sultanate of Oman participated in the 67th General Assembly Meeting of the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA), held in Warsaw, Poland. The participation reflects Oman’s broader commitment to aligning its education standards with international benchmarks, a goal shared across the Gulf region.
Delegation Leadership and Meeting Agenda
The gathering brought together representatives of member institutions and experts specialising in educational measurement and evaluation from various countries around the world. Oman’s delegation was headed by Dr. Jokha Abdullah Al Shukaili, CEO of the Oman Authority for Quality Assurance of Education.
Discussion Focus and National Objectives
Discussions covered the association’s governance, current and future studies, research priorities, membership and funding affairs, and ways to utilise evidence from international studies to support policy development and educational reform. The meeting also served as a platform to discuss developments related to Oman’s participation in the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS 2026), the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS 2027), and the International Computer and Information Literacy Study (ICILS 2028), alongside a review of emerging trends in international evaluation, measurement inclusivity, research communication and the future design of the association’s studies.
Through its participation, Oman seeks to enhance cooperation with the IEA and its member institutions, build specialised national capacities in measurement and evaluation, and ensure the transformation of international study results into reliable evidence supporting decision‑making and sustainable improvement in the educational system.
