His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani opened the session with a speech that outlined national priorities, stressed the resilience of the Qatari people, underscored the protection of sovereignty and called for continued investment in human development.

Speaking to The Peninsula, the council members said the Amir’s address offered important guidance for the country’s next phase, emphasizing the need to preserve domestic stability, deepen diplomatic engagement, diversify the economy and sustain development amid regional and international challenges.

These remarks were made against the backdrop of ongoing regional and international challenges mentioned by the Amir.

Key Priorities Highlighted

Al-Misnad described the Amir’s address as comprehensive and profound, noting that it covered both external developments and domestic policy matters of importance to Qatar and its citizens.

“The Amir’s speech today was comprehensive and profound in its meaning. He spoke about the external events the country has experienced, as well as domestic policy and many issues of importance to the nation and its citizens,” said Al-Misnad.

He also noted that the Amir praised the solidarity of the Qatari people and the performance of security agencies, and highlighted protecting sovereignty, open diplomacy, domestic stability, economic diversification and investment in human resources.

“Protecting sovereignty and maintaining open diplomacy remain among our key priorities. Our positions do not change regardless of changing circumstances. We also enjoy domestic stability and we must preserve it,” he said.

Referring to Qatar’s role in supplying energy to international markets, he said the country remained committed to meeting global demand for natural gas while seeking solutions to help ensure reliable supplies.

He added that economic diversification and human‑resource investment are priorities the Shura Council supports through its legislative work, and that Qatar remains committed to meeting global natural‑gas demand while seeking reliable supply solutions.

Legislative Outlook and National Vision

Al-Mohannadi said Qatar will continue to face challenges but will work closely with the government under the Amir’s leadership, stressing national unity and cooperation to sustain development and safeguard security.

“There will be challenges along the way, but we will stand with our government, our country, H H the Amir, the Qatari people and residents of Qatar to continue developing this country and preserving security and safety in Qatar,” said Al-Mohannadi.

He also highlighted Qatar’s commitment to pursuing reconciliation and peaceful solutions at regional and international levels, noting that such efforts are essential to making the world safer.

Al-Muslemani described the opening of the new session as the start of another chapter in Qatar’s national service and development journey.

“With great pride, we open a new chapter in the journey of national service with the inauguration by Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani of the second ordinary session of the second legislative term of the Shura Council, in its 55th annual session,” Al-Muslemani said.

She said the Amir’s address provides a framework for the Council’s work in the coming period, guiding its legislative and oversight duties in line with national priorities and Qatar National Vision 2030.

She noted that the Council will continue to examine legislation and matters of national importance, strengthen cooperation and integration with the government, and support comprehensive development, adding that the Shura Council embodies Qatar’s consultative tradition and keeps societal needs and aspirations at the forefront of its work.

She said the Council will build on its legislative and oversight achievements to safeguard national gains and consolidate the progress and prosperity the country continues to experience.

Focus on People and Public Services

Al-Jaidah said the Amir’s address covered the country’s political and economic affairs and stressed that investing in people is the foundation of societal development.

“The Amir addressed all aspects of the country, whether political or economic, and also made clear that the real investment must be in people, as they are the ones who will build this society,” said Al-Jaidah.

She stressed that advancing society requires concerted efforts by all state institutions, public and private, and highlighted the resilience shown by the Qatari people under the Amir’s leadership when facing challenges.

“What caught our attention was the resilience of the Qatari people and our steadfastness under the leadership of H H the Amir in the face of challenges,” she said.

Al-Jaidah also highlighted the importance of maintaining essential public services despite difficult circumstances, alongside investing in people and strengthening solidarity across society.
