Syrian Foreign Minister Heads to Riyadh to Boost Ties with Saudi Arabia

Arrival in Riyadh

Syria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad al-Shibani, arrived in Riyadh on Thursday at the head of a high‑level delegation. The visit is described as official and aims to advance cooperation between Syria and Saudi Arabia.

Follow‑up to Presidential Visit

The Media and Communications Directorate at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the trip forms part of ongoing consultations between the two countries and seeks to further develop bilateral relations. Shibani’s arrival comes shortly after President Ahmad al-Sharaa’s visit to Riyadh on October 6, during which the president, accompanied by the foreign minister, met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Official Statements and Note

A presidential statement issued after the October 6 meeting said that President Sharaa and the Crown Prince discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties and exchanged views on regional developments and issues of mutual concern. The Syrian Observer translated and edited the article, and notes that it has not verified the content; responsibility for the information and views rests with the author.
