Google makes advanced AI models available to European researchers
Published By Regional Desk
Amman, Jordan — Google DeepMind and Google Cloud, both subsidiaries of the US-based parent company Alphabet, have launched a new programme that will provide up to 200 scientific researchers in Europe with direct access to cutting-edge artificial intelligence models, alongside $3 million in computing credits to support their research.
The announcement, reported by Reuters, was made on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, as part of a broader effort to speed up scientific discovery and enable European scientists to leverage the latest AI tools in tackling complex scientific problems.
AI models on offer
The initiative grants researchers access to a suite of scientific models and tools developed by Google, including AlphaFold 3, WeatherNext, AlphaGenome, AlphaEvolve and AlphaEarth Foundations. These tools allow scientists to apply AI capabilities across multiple disciplines, such as studying molecular structures, analysing genetic data, forecasting extreme weather events, and interpreting Earth and environmental data.
Accelerating scientific breakthroughs
According to the two companies, the programme is designed to help researchers address difficult scientific challenges more efficiently, ranging from predicting severe weather patterns to accurately mapping molecular structures. The move is part of Google’s ongoing efforts to expand the use of advanced AI models in scientific research by providing researchers with the necessary tools and computing power to advance their studies and accelerate the discovery of new scientific findings.
