Kuwait Warns Delivery Riders of Up to 60‑Day Motorcycle Seizure for Traffic Offences

Impoundment penalties for violations
Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has warned that delivery motorcycle riders who break traffic rules may have their bikes seized and held for up to two months.
Campaign context
The announcement is made within the framework of the Ministry of Interior’s ‘Prevention and Safety’ traffic awareness campaign. In addition to the impoundment, riders will face administrative steps that vary according to the nature of the offence, and companies that employ repeat offenders will also be subject to action.
Sidewalk riding and legal consequences
Riding on a pavement incurs a fixed settlement of 30 Kuwaiti dinars. If the matter proceeds to court, the rider may be sentenced to up to one month in jail, fined between 50 and 100 dinars, or receive either punishment. The ministry stressed that pavements, pedestrian footbridges and their ramps are reserved for walkers only and must not be used as shortcuts. It also said that riders must obey traffic signs and road markings, refrain from travelling against the flow of traffic, avoid exiting where it is forbidden, and not turn or change direction contrary to signage. “Taking a shortcut does not justify a violation,” the ministry said.
Company responsibility and safety reminders
Operators whose riders repeatedly violate the rules will also face administrative measures. The ministry further advised riders to reduce speed before speed bumps, cross them staying within their lane, and avoid weaving between a bump and the curb. “Your compliance protects you and others,” the ministry said.
