Court Delivers Verdicts in State Security Cases
According to Times Kuwait, Kuwait’s Court of Appeals’ State Security Circuit, presided over by Counselor Abdullah Al-Sane with Counselors Muhammad Jaafar and Hamoud Al-Badr as members, issued several rulings in state security cases.
The rulings come amid heightened vigilance in Kuwait over threats linked to extremist groups.
Details of the Egyptian Defendant’s Conviction
The court sentenced an Egyptian accused to five years in prison after convicting him of joining the ISIS group, receiving training in the use of explosives and bombs, and planning to target Husseiniyas in Kuwait. The charges also included seeking to harm Kuwait’s national interests and publicly insulting and defaming H.H. the Amir.

In a separate case, the court upheld the acquittal of a lawyer accused of inciting sectarian strife and insulting Kuwait’s Shiite community. The court also overturned the acquittal of a Kuwaiti citizen accused of expressing sympathy for Iran during its attacks on Kuwait. However, it again ruled to withhold sentencing on bail.
