In Oman, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has launched its internal digital platform, “Itqan,” alongside a suite of 14 new e-services designed to streamline transactions, improve institutional performance and modernise the work environment.
The move aligns with Oman’s broader push to digitise public services and strengthen its tourism sector.
Platform capabilities and leadership benefits
The “Itqan” platform connects strategic planning with project execution, delivering accurate, real-time data to senior leadership. This real-time overview supports better decision‑making, early risk identification and structured tracking of performance metrics.
Comments from the Director of Digital Transformation
Asma bint Abdullah Al Sinani, Director of Digital Transformation, highlighted that the platform and e-services reflect the Ministry’s commitment to institutional excellence and improved user experience. She noted that the new digital tools enable integrated workflows across departments, foster transparency, and allow beneficiaries to complete applications online without visiting Ministry offices.
Tools for project managers and staff
For project managers, “Itqan” provides centralised tools to plan, track and manage initiatives, while allowing employees to align their individual contributions directly with the Ministry’s overarching goals.
Scope of the new e‑services
The 14 new e-services cater to four core domains: Adventure Tourism, Tourist Facilities, Fine Arts Groups and Caves.
This initiative marks a key step in the Ministry’s broader digital transformation roadmap, driving internal operational efficiency while offering accessible, paperless public services.
