Libyan-Chinese Joint Chamber Opens in Tripoli

Libya’s General Union of Chambers of Commerce announced yesterday that the Libyan-Chinese Joint Chamber was inaugurated on the same day.

Inauguration Ceremony

The Chamber said the move highlights the importance of strengthening economic and trade ties between Libya and China. Officials and figures from the economic and trade sectors attended the event, aiming to foster cooperation and open broader avenues for partnership and investment between the two nations.

Attendees and Officials

The opening ceremony was attended by Suhail Abu Shiha, Minister of Economy and Trade; Ma Xueliang, Ambassador of China to Libya; Mohamed Al-Raied, Chairman of the General Union and Chairman of the Libyan-Chinese Joint Chamber; Abdul-Moneim Mohamed Saleh, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing and Reconstruction; and Al-Amin Al-Bakoush, Executive Director of the Libyan-Chinese Joint Chamber.

Mandate and Future Cooperation

The Chamber said the Libyan-Chinese Joint Chamber serves as an institutional framework to enhance communication between the business communities of both countries and to expand cooperation opportunities in trade, economics, and investment. It aims to facilitate the creation of effective partnerships between Libyan and Chinese companies and institutions.

Furthermore, the Chamber opens broader horizons for developing trade exchange, encouraging joint investments, and facilitating interaction among businesspeople and investors. It also enables the exploration of opportunities in sectors such as infrastructure, industry, trade, technology, and other areas of mutual interest, thereby supporting the transfer of expertise and knowledge exchange while bolstering the private sector’s role in driving economic development.

The opening of the chamber comes as part of efforts to elevate Libyan-Chinese relations to broader levels of cooperation and partnership, and to translate the existing ties between the two nations into sustainable economic and investment opportunities that serve mutual interests and support the national economy.
