Official Comments
Abdullah Al Dosari, the federation’s executive director, said the race would be an important addition to Qatar’s calendar of community sporting events.
He said the partnership with Paris Saint-Germain would give the event a distinctive character and offer participants a sporting experience that combines an international dimension with a local flavour.
Al Dosari said the range of race distances reflected the organizers’ commitment to giving people of different ages and fitness levels an opportunity to participate. This, he said, would help expand participation in running and encourage greater interest in community sporting activities.
He added that hosting the race at Lusail International Circuit would offer participants an exceptional experience, given the venue’s international standing and its record of hosting major sporting events. Holding the race at the circuit, he said, would be an additional draw for participants.
Al Dosari expressed hope that the race would attract a large turnout and foster a distinctive competitive atmosphere, helping entrench a culture of physical activity and encouraging community members to adopt healthy, active lifestyles.
The race forms part of wider initiatives to promote community sport in Qatar and to offer a variety of events that enable people of all ages to be physically active in a setting that blends competition with enjoyment.
