Egypt Targets New Investor Segments in Varied Finance Markets, Says Kouchouk
Published By Regional Desk
Egypt aims to reach new investor segments across diverse financing markets and secure more competitive terms to lower financing costs, according to Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk.
He said fiscal and economic policy priorities centre on supporting private‑sector growth, boosting investment and enlarging its share of the Egyptian economy.
The comments were made amid broader efforts by North African states to attract varied sources of financing.
Meeting with Africa Finance Corporation
Speaking on the sidelines of the IMF and World Bank Group meetings in Bangkok, Kouchouk met Sameh Shenouda, executive director and head of investments at the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC).
He noted that the government is working to raise the production and export of goods and services by encouraging investment in projects that promise strong economic returns.
Kouchouk added that the AFC is a strategic partner able to mobilise additional private capital for development in Egypt.
Future Cooperation
He said Egypt is preparing to start a new phase of bilateral cooperation to advance the financing of Egyptian projects together with the private sector and to draw up a joint list of priority economic activities that would support sustainable growth.
