Phone Call Between Egyptian and Greek Foreign Ministers
According to Egypt Independent, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a telephone conversation with his Greek counterpart, Giorgos Gerapetritis, on 12 October 2026 to discuss regional developments and the escalating challenges facing the area.
Ongoing Consultations and Mutual Concerns
The call formed part of the regular consultations and coordination between Egypt and Greece concerning bilateral relations and matters of shared interest. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nader Zaki said the two ministers exchanged views on several topics of common concern and emphasised the necessity of maintaining close coordination to support de‑escalation efforts and curb regional tensions.
Emphasis on Diplomatic Solutions
They also highlighted the importance of giving priority to political and diplomatic approaches to crises in order to bolster regional security and stability. The discussion took place against a backdrop of heightened tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean, where competing maritime claims and instability in neighbouring states have prompted frequent diplomatic engagement.
