Jordan Detains 28 Domestic Workers Over Expired Permits

Detention of Domestic Workers

The Ministry of Labor in Jordan has detained 28 domestic workers of various nationalities in recent days after absconding reports were filed against them.

Findings on Documentation

According to the ministry’s spokesperson, Mohammad Al-Zyoud, inspection teams followed up on the cases and found that the detained workers were carrying expired work permits and residency documents.

He noted that some had not renewed their legal status for 10 years.

Official Warning to Employers

Al-Zyoud urged citizens not to employ or deal with domestic workers who work on a daily or hourly basis, stressing that such practices constitute a clear violation of the provisions of the Labor Law.
