Marca Urges Real Madrid to Start Güler After Questioning Mourinho’s Midfield Setup
Published By Arab Hub Post Staff
Jordan’s Al‑Ghad newspaper reported that Spanish sports daily Marca has criticised José Mourinho’s midfield selections for Real Madrid, questioning why Arda Güler remains on the bench.
Critique of Midfield Tactics
Marca argued that the continued reliance on Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni limits the team’s ability to circulate the ball and construct attacks, especially when the back line includes Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konaté, Antonio Rüdiger and Marc Cucurella.
It also noted that Roma looked more eager to go forward, while Real Madrid resorted to long, aimless passes from goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois despite having Güler and Bernardo Silva available on the bench.
Call for Güler to Start
The newspaper pointed out that Barcelona possesses several play‑makers such as Pedri, Fermín López and Dani Olmo, suggesting that Real Madrid lacks comparable creativity in midfield.
Marca observed that the side’s performance improved when more inventive players were introduced and stressed that Güler should be given a starting role after his clear contribution to the goals that sparked the comeback against Roma.
