Visit Overview
Students from Al-Ghanim Bilingual School visited Kuwait Times on Wednesday to see how news and social media content are created. The visit gave them an inside look at the newspaper’s operations and history.
Department Tours
They were told that Kuwait Times is the first English-language daily in the Arabian Gulf, launched in 1961. Staff explained how the editorial, design and reporting teams work together to keep readers updated around the clock. In the social media studio, Content Creator Dhoha Alessa demonstrated how video material is produced. At the editorial desk, students observed reporters, editors and designers collaborating on daily stories for both print and online platforms. The group also toured the warehouse where staff spend time filming, brainstorming and relaxing with billiards or darts.
Museum, Press and Interactive Session
The tour included the Kuwait Times museum, which displays archival copies, a timeline of important moments in the newspaper’s and the world’s history, and a replica of the 1961 four‑page first edition. The founder’s desk, belonging to Yousuf Al-Alyan, is exhibited as a tribute to his legacy. Students then went to the printing press, where they took a group photograph and met the newspaper’s resident cats. To finish, they participated in a trivia quiz hosted by Dhoha Alessa in the newly opened second‑floor studio, applying what they had learned during the visit.
