Kuwait consulate urges citizens in Istanbul to take precautions as heavy rain triggers Turkish flood warnings

Kuwait’s Consulate General in Istanbul on Wednesday called on Kuwaiti citizens in the city to exercise extreme caution as heavy rain continued to lash Istanbul and surrounding areas. The appeal came amid warnings from Turkish authorities about the risk of flash flooding and traffic disruptions.

Consulate Issues Safety Advisory

The consulate advised Kuwaiti nationals to avoid areas where water tends to accumulate and to refrain from unnecessary travel during the heaviest downpours. It also urged them to comply with all instructions and warnings issued by Turkish officials.

Emergency Contact and Official Channels

Citizens were reminded to monitor the consulate’s official communication channels and to reach out to the mission if they required assistance. The consulate said it stood ready to help ensure their safety and to provide support in dealing with the severe weather conditions.

Turkish Forecast Warns of Flash Floods and Strong Winds

The advisory coincided with a warning from the Turkish Meteorological Service, which forecast heavy rain across Istanbul and nearby provinces. The service cautioned that the downpours could trigger flash floods and disrupt traffic, and that strong winds might exacerbate the situation. — KUNA
