Procedure Overview
A medical team at Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital carried out a transcatheter aortic valve replacement on a patient in his seventies, with the operation transmitted live by satellite to the Gulf Heart Valve Conference held in Dubai.
Patient Condition and Outcome
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Health on Thursday, the patient had been suffering from severe aortic stenosis and had required repeated hospital admissions because of pulmonary edema, which involves fluid accumulation in the lungs.
The ministry added that the individual was discharged in good health two days after undergoing the minimally invasive procedure.
Team and Equipment
The TAVR was performed under local anaesthesia by Dr Ali Saheb and Dr Mohammed Al-Turki, who used the NavitorVision valve, a modern device designed for transcatheter implantation to treat aortic stenosis.
Regional Impact and Recognition
The Ministry of Health said Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital continues to strengthen its capabilities in complex cardiac catheterization by providing specialised care and sharing expertise at specialist conferences across the region.
It also noted that the conference organisers and participating experts from the United States praised the expertise and competence of the Kuwaiti medical team, highlighting the hospital’s growing role in advanced cardiac care.
