Kuwait arrests reckless driver in Wafra after social media sting

Arrest in Wafra

Kuwait’s General Traffic Department announced the arrest of a man in the Wafra agricultural area for reckless driving, stating that he was referred to the Central Prison and his vehicle impounded. Kuwait has been stepping up traffic enforcement to curb dangerous driving.

Social media monitoring leads to ambush

The operation was carried out by the department’s Security Control Division, which monitors social media platforms for evidence of dangerous driving. Officers said the vehicle had appeared in video clips performing reckless stunts.

After identifying the vehicle, officers set up an ambush, stopped the car and detained the driver.

Legal action and future deterrence

The department stated, “Legal action was taken against the suspect, the department said.”

The department added, “It added that it will continue to track down and pursue those who drive recklessly and take deterrent legal action against them, to protect road users, lives and property.”
