Lebanese Forces Ministers Boycott Thursday Cabinet Meeting Over Security, Power Crises

MTV reported that the four ministers representing the Lebanese Forces party have decided to skip the cabinet session scheduled for this Thursday. The Lebanese Forces is a major Christian political faction in Lebanon.

Reasons for the Boycott

According to the television network, the decision follows what the ministers perceive as deliberate delays in sending the Dahr al-Baidar explosives case to the Judicial Council. They also point to the failure of state public administrations to respond to repeated requests from the Energy Minister concerning the settlement of their debts to Électricité du Liban (EDL).

Crisis of Priorities

Sources told MTV that the LF ministers’ current position stems from what they describe as ‘a clear crisis of priorities.’ They believe that the security of Lebanese citizens in the explosives case and their social security in relation to the electricity file are two crucial matters where ongoing procrastination and stalling can no longer be tolerated.
