Lebanon’s General Security has confiscated a cache of explosives, including C-4, along with military weapons, ammunition and grenades during raids in the northern city of Tripoli, the agency announced.
Raids in Bab al-Raml
In a statement, the General Directorate of General Security said the operations were carried out under judicial supervision as part of proactive security efforts. The raids targeted the Bab al-Raml area and resulted in the seizure of explosives, detonators used for manufacturing improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and large quantities of military arms, ammunition and grenades.
The weapons and explosives were found inside the home of a Lebanese national identified only by the initials R.S., according to the statement.
Suspect Links to Daesh
MTV reported that R.S. is suspected of having links to the Daesh organisation.
During a separate raid on another house in Bab al-Raml, security forces seized a drone from detained Lebanese national A.A., the statement added. Lebanese national T.H. was also arrested in the same area for his ties to the two detainees.
Investigation Underway
General Security said all seized items were confiscated and held on instructions from the competent judicial authorities. Investigations continue under judicial supervision to uncover all circumstances of the case and to arrest remaining accomplices.
The General Directorate of General Security reaffirmed its commitment to continuing proactive operations to maintain citizen security and safety and to safeguard stability, the statement concluded.
