Published By Arab Hub Post Staff
In Libya, the National Center for Cardiac Treatment and Surgery in Tajoura, Tripoli, has released its September statistics for the Cardiac Emergency Unit and Outpatient Clinic.
Medical Examination Figures
The centre reported that a total of 1,562 cases underwent medical examination during the month. Of these, females accounted for 54.55 percent, corresponding to 852 cases, while males made up 45.45 percent, or 710 cases.
Electrocardiogram Testing
A total of 1,308 electrocardiogram (ECG) examinations were performed. The centre noted that approximately 83.74 percent of all patients who came for medical examination received an ECG, underscoring the unit’s specialised focus on suspected cardiac conditions. By gender, females received 729 ECG tests, representing 55.73 percent of the ECG total, whereas males received 579 tests, or 44.27 percent.
Operational Efficiency
The unit recorded an average daily patient volume of about 52 cases in September. The centre attributed this throughput to the high efficiency of its medical and nursing staff in receiving, triaging and continuously managing emergency cases. Furthermore, it stated that 83.7 percent of all patients underwent an ECG immediately upon admission, describing this as an outstanding performance indicator that aligns with standard protocols for assessing acute coronary syndromes and chest pain.
Healthcare Localisation Context
The centre’s statistics are presented as part of the Tripoli government’s policy of ‘Localisation of Healthcare’, an initiative aimed at expanding the range of free health treatments available to citizens within Libya, thereby reducing the need to seek care abroad at state or personal expense.
