Qatar’s Public Works Authority Advises Residents to Ready Homes for Rainy Season

Precautions urged by Ashghal

In Doha, Qatar, the Public Works Authority, Ashghal, has called on citizens and residents across the country to take necessary steps to safeguard their homes and facilities before the forthcoming rainy season, aiming to avert possible damage and avoid expensive repairs. The Gulf state typically experiences short, heavy downpours between November and March, which can lead to sudden flooding in urban areas.

Specific safety measures outlined

In a social media post, the authority listed several precautions residents should follow prior to rainfall, including verifying that seals around glass ceilings and windows are secure, removing debris from drains near dwellings to prevent flooding, examining roof insulation, and inspecting gutters for leaks or blockages.

Advice for property preparation

Ashghal encouraged residents to prepare their properties in advance and address any maintenance issues to reduce the risk of water damage and enhance safety during the rainy season.
