Awareness and Education Initiatives
The Environment Department in South Al Sharqiyah continuously works to raise public awareness about the importance of preserving marine ecosystems, carrying out educational programmes that blend fieldwork with community outreach.
Conservation Drive Details
The drive includes measures to protect nesting sites, monitor turtles and their hatchlings, and handle emergency situations, with a strong emphasis on community engagement and support from Oman India Fertiliser Company (OMIFCO).
Activities at Ras Al Hadd Turtle Reserve
The recent activities were carried out at Ras Al Hadd Turtle Reserve, a prime nesting site for sea turtles. During the campaigns, specialists and environment activists patrolled the beach, tracked egg‑laying sites and assisted hatchlings when needed.
