Published By Arab Hub Post Staff
Project Overview
Jordan’s Ministry of Public Works and Housing announced on Tuesday that the second phase of the Irbid-Ajloun Road expansion project has been completed, covering about one kilometre. The work was funded by the Irbid Governorate Council and forms part of broader efforts to upgrade road infrastructure and improve traffic safety in the region. Irbid and Ajloun, situated in northern Jordan, are key centres for north‑south movement.
Construction Works
Supervised by the Irbid Public Works Directorate, the phase included widening the existing carriageway, carrying out cutting and grading operations, and building the road structure with selected materials and aggregates. Binder and surface asphalt layers were laid in line with approved technical specifications.
Safety Features
Contractors installed standard speed bumps, applied road and pavement markings, added curbs and created turning openings. Pipe culverts were also built to drain rainwater, which raises the road’s efficiency and enhances safety for users.
Official Comments
The ministry said that finishing this phase fits into its plan to develop the main road network, smooth traffic flow and raise public safety, thereby serving residents and facilitating travel between the Irbid and Ajloun governorates.
