Tripoli Chamber Hosts Polish Envoy to Discuss Trade Ties

According to the Tripoli Chamber of Commerce, its Chairman Anwar Abu Sitta met Grzegorz Olzak, Acting Chargé d’affaires of Poland to Libya, at the Chamber’s Tripoli headquarters yesterday.

Libya continues to seek new trade partners as part of its broader economic recovery efforts.

Meeting Between Tripoli Chamber and Polish Envoy

The talks were held within the framework of strengthening economic and commercial relations between the private sectors of Libya and Poland and revitalising cooperation between their business communities.

Plans for Trade Delegations and Reciprocal Visits

The discussion explored prospects for economic and commercial cooperation and ways to open new avenues for partnership between the private sectors of both countries, aiming to boost trade exchange and leverage investment opportunities in the Libyan and Polish markets.

The two sides also discussed arrangements for an official Polish trade delegation to visit Libya at the earliest possible opportunity, a step that would mark the first such visit in approximately twenty years and reactivate commercial ties.

In the same context, the possibility of a reciprocal visit by a Libyan business delegation to Poland, following the Polish delegation’s trip, was examined to foster direct communication between companies, explore cooperation and investment options, and build sustainable commercial partnerships.

Proposal for a Joint Libyan‑Polish Chamber of Commerce

The meeting addressed the importance of establishing a joint Libyan‑Polish Chamber of Commerce, to be coordinated with the Ministry of Economy and Trade and the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, as an institutional framework to foster communication between business owners in both countries.

Such a body would coordinate economic and commercial endeavours, facilitate partnership formation and enable the exchange of information on available investment opportunities.

The Tripoli Chamber of Commerce said the meeting forms part of its efforts to expand international relations and strengthen cooperation with diplomatic missions and business institutions, intending to support the private sector, open new trade and investment avenues, contribute to national economic diversification and bolster Libya’s ties with friendly nations.
