Published By Arab Hub Post Staff
On Wednesday, the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) held the second introductory meeting for investors and business owners in Al Suwaiq, focusing on opportunities at Al Suwaiq Industrial City in Oman’s North Al Batinah Governorate.
City’s capabilities and investment appeal
The gathering aimed to showcase the industrial city’s features as a modern hub developed by Madayn to boost Oman’s investment climate and support economic diversification. Integrated infrastructure tailored for industrial, logistical and service projects was highlighted.
Munther Ali Al Nasri, Acting Director General of Al Suwaiq Industrial City, noted that the city had attracted new investment projects in 2026 worth more than OMR1.4 million, covering leased areas exceeding 80,000 square metres. This brings total cumulative investments in the city to over OMR2 million, with total leased areas surpassing 90,000 square metres.
Diverse industrial projects under way
According to Al Nasri, the new projects span various industrial activities, including polyethylene production, industrial oil refining, polymer modification for bitumen, and ceramic tile manufacturing.
The city’s management is currently assessing several investment applications across sectors such as electric motor and generator manufacturing, carbonated and soft drink production, and cosmetics and hand and foot care product manufacturing. Al Nasri said these applications reflect growing investor interest in the opportunities available at the city.
Coordination and strategic advantages
Eng. Abdullah Mohammed Al Farsi stated that Madayn is working with public and private sector authorities to accelerate basic service provision for Al Suwaiq Industrial City and simplify investment procedures. Promotional and awareness campaigns about investment opportunities and incentives are also being intensified. These efforts align with the city’s aim to attract value-added industrial projects, diversify activities, increase the industrial sector’s contribution to the local economy, create opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and develop supply chains and supporting services.
Al Farsi added that Al Suwaiq Industrial City benefits from a strategic location in Oman, offering easy access to main transport networks, population centres, regional markets and export outlets. This location enhances supply chain efficiency, facilitates commercial operations and supports industrial sector growth.
Future development and economic impact
Spanning a total allocated area of approximately 12.2 million square metres, Al Suwaiq Industrial City represents a significant addition to Oman’s network of industrial cities. Madayn is developing Phase One over an estimated 1.3 million square metres. The city is expected to attract investments and boost economic opportunities through competitive incentives and advanced infrastructure, creating direct and indirect jobs for citizens and enabling entrepreneurs to launch innovative projects. It also aims to diversify income sources and raise non-oil revenues for the national economy.
